Great news for big fans of Nokia here in the Philippines!
Last June 8, 2017, HMD Global officially its first set of Nokia-branded handsets in the country and likewise disclosed that these models will be up for purchase across the Philippines by the end of June.
Of the bunch, Nokia 6 is the most powerful and arguably the most gorgeous -- albeit it's also the most expensive.
Donning an official suggested retail price of Php 11,990, Nokia 6 is a metal-clad Android smartphone with decent technical specifications and fairly reliable imaging capabilities.
If you ask me, the main selling point of this release would have to be its downright solid and beautiful construction -- apart from its popular and well-loved brand logo, of course.
Nokia 6 flaunts a CNC-prepared or diamond-cut anodized aluminum shell, border-line inconspicuous antenna bands, and a flex-free build.
Holding the device, you will immediately feel the amount of care that HMD Global and its OEM partner in China put into making sure that it will be worthy of the Nokia branding. Nokia 6 feels rock solid and its heft gives reassurance that it can take the knocks and bumps of daily use.
Now, let's talk specs.
Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display underneath 2.5D Curved Gorilla Glass touchscreen, a 16 MegaPixel autofocus rear camera with phase detection autofocus - for super fast focus and shutter speed - and a wide f/2.0 aperture, 8 MegaPixel front cam for selfies, 4G LTE support, dual amplifiers and Dolby Atmos audio enhancement technology.
Inside, the handset runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with a 64-Bit 1.4 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor that incorporates an Adreno 505 GPU and ARM Cortex A53 CPUs. This chipset is complemented by 3GB of RAM for smooth multitasking and 32GB of internal storage that can be beefed up using the hybrid secondary nanoSIM slot that also supports microSD card memory expansion.
There's also a 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM version of this model but the Nokia 6 that we're initially getting is the one with the above-mentioned set of technical specifications. No word yet if the variant with better innards will be launched here eventually.
Nokia 6 will be out in four classy colors, namely, Arte Black, Matte Black, Tempered Blue, Silver, and Copper -- all of which will be clad in thick Series 6000 Aluminum.
According to HMD Global, Nokia 6 along with all of their upcoming Nokia-branded handsets will be available at partner dealers and authorized retail channels across the Philippines and even online. Stay tuned for updates as well as our full review of this much-awaited handset.
