Asus ZenFone 4 2017 Official Announcement Will Be On August 17

After months of keeping information on its yet-to-be-announced Android smartphones tightly under wraps, on Wednesday - August 2, 2017, Taiwanese electronics giant Asus finally disclosed a few official details about its upcoming 2017 flagship handset, which will supersede the best-selling Asus ZenFone 3.

Asus ZenFone 4, Gong Yoo for Asus

Via a post on its official Facebook account in Taiwan, Asus let the public in on at least three interesting facts about the much-awaited Asus ZenFone 4.

1. The company has enlisted the service of internationally famous South Korean actor Gong Yoo to be the celebrity endorser for this specific handset model, if not for the entire Asus ZenFone 4 series. Gong Yoo has starred in a number of well-received TV series and movies including Coffee Prince, Goblin, and Train to Busan.

Following the success of Asus ZenFone 2 in 2015, the Taiwanese brand started tapping celebrities and personalities in various countries to help in their marketing campaigns.

2. Looking at the design of the actual Asus ZenFone 4 unit on the digital poster, it's clear that the handset will have a Dual Rear Camera module.

To quote Asus Philippines' email to local media sent on Tuesday - August 1, 2017, their 2017 flagship Android smartphone is packed with the best imaging quality and top-of-the-line components, marking it as the penultimate smartphone for photography.

It remains to be seen whether the two-optic set-up to the Asus ZenFone 4 will have identical functionality to that Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom, which makes 2.3X optical zoom possible via a telephoto lens.

3. And finally, looking at the handset in Gong Yoo's hand, it appears that it will have a glass back panel with concentric circle patterns - an identifying design characteristic of ZenFone models - as well as a real metal mid-frame. Notice that unlike the Asus ZenFone 3, the Asus ZenFone 4 doesn't have a Fingerprint Scanner at the back, which could very well mean that the sensor has been re-positioned in front -- lining the home button below the display, perhaps?

Alright, that's it for now! The Taiwanese company is set to formally unveil the Asus ZenFone 4 on August 17, 2017. Needless to say, we'll all know the complete technical specifications and main selling points of this new flagship model by then. Stay tuned!
